OpenAI’s GPT-6.1 Sol, listed in the company’s Oct. 21 newsroom roundup, upgrades GPT-6 Sol for coding, computer use and professional workflows. OpenAI says it approaches its higher-priced GPT-6 Astra on several internal evaluations, with standard API prices of $2 per million input tokens and $10 per million output tokens—one-fifth Astra’s listed rates. Its published tests report improvements over GPT-6 Sol in complex software tasks, computer use and document-heavy professional work, but OpenAI cautions that difficult factuality tests use conversations where users had already flagged errors and are not representative of ordinary use. The model is available to paid ChatGPT Work and Codex plans and through the API; OpenAI says it is not yet available in ChatGPT’s consumer Chat.
