In its October national poll, Equis Research found Democrats leading Republicans 57% to 31% on the generic congressional ballot among Latino voters, a 26-point margin. The survey of 1,800 registered Hispanic or Latino voters was fielded Sept. 23 through Oct. 2 by phone and text-to-web. Cost of living remains a defining concern: 52% named the economy and cost of living as the country's most important issue in an open-ended question. On trust, respondents favored Democrats over Republicans on the economy, 54% to 33%, and on health care, 60% to 26%. The poll captures a moment before the Nov. 3 election; it should be read as opinion data, not an election result. A separate October Pew survey also places the economy first among Latino voters’ concerns.
