The Latin Recording Academy named Argentine visual and recording artist EXTi its official visual artist for the 27th Latin GRAMMY Awards on October 8. His commissioned piece centers a gramophone wrapped in bandages and surrounded by speakers, instruments, microphones and analog and digital studio equipment. EXTi describes the work as a return to the process of making music and to art as therapy; he dedicated it to his father. The Academy has selected a visual artist since 2001, making this a continuing bridge between music and visual culture rather than peripheral campaign design. The Academy credits John Parra/Getty Images for the artwork portrait and Martín Cabezas for the artist portrait.
