Dominican filmmaker José María Cabral’s new feature, Comemierda—internationally titled Sh*t Happens—will make its world premiere in the Official Competition at the 30th Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival. PÖFF’s film page lists the 2026 social drama and dark comedy in its main competition; Variety and The Hollywood Reporter included it in the slate announced October 8. The festival runs November 6–22.

The film follows a Dominican household whose experimental microbiotic treatment changes the balance among the family, a biotechnologist and a young caregiver. Produced by Lantica Studios and Purpleline Productions, it gives Dominican cinema a place in the principal competition of a FIAPF-accredited festival. This is a selection announcement, not a prize: the next measure will be how the film is seen, discussed and distributed after its premiere.
