When the axe came into the forest, the trees said : “Look, the handle is one of us.”-African Proverb
I am scratching Lifetime from my list of channels that deserve the Latino viewers. Mark my words: I am etching that in the deepest recesses of every moral fiber rummaging through my brain all the way out to the conscious decency I have as a human being. I have not read such conscientious and revolting ignorance coming from people who are supposed to represent us.
My God, I’m even agreeing with the social savants who are nothing more than reactionary boneheads. What the hell is happening with Latino Hollywood? We are selling our people and our children poison and calling it the nectar of life. Mind you, I am not a pusher of positive or negative stereotypes. I’m a pusher of humanity. Because both negative and positive stereotypes strip us of that.
I am just heartbroken and aghast with how things are turning out. We have lost our minds. Wow. I don’t even want to believe it. I’ve never been more disappointed with people who I held nothing but the utmost respect for in this industry. We need to destroy and rebuild. Now more than ever. If you profess to be for the people, I urge you to not be a silent spectator. You just become a conduit of ignorance; a current of exploitation, suffering, and hate. Remember what our greats said regarding neutrality:
“I agree with Dante, that the hottest places in hell are reserved for those who, in a period of moral crisis, maintain their neutrality.”- Martin Luther King
That said, you know on who’s side I’m on. The people. I won’t be supporting Lifetime. My mind, my soul, my conscience, and my heart won’t allow me to.
